The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation recognized 49 local companies for excellence in workplace safety at the Orrville Area Safety Council annual awards luncheon May 10. The event, sponsored by Aultman Orrville Hospital and General Building Maintenance Corp, was held in the community at White’s Ford, 1780 N Main. Eighty one people were in attendance.
Keith Greathouse, Employer Management Supervisor for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation was on hand to present 92 awards to 49 Orrville Area companies for excellence in safety practices.
Awards were presented in four categories. Many companies were honored with awards in multiple categories.
Special recognition awards were presented to 11 companies that accumulated at least 500,000 hours and at least six months without a lost-time injury. Recipients included: Aultman Orrville Hospital, Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Ferro Corporation, General Building Maintenance Corp, Gerber Poultry, Jarrett Logistics Systems, Orrvilon, The Quality Castings Company, Samaritan Care and The Scotts Miracle Gro Company.
Achievement Awards were earned by 17 companies in recognition for decreasing their incident rate by at least 25 percent from the previous year.
100% Awards were earned by 48 companies for working an entire year without a lost time injury or illness.
Group Awards were earned by 17 companies with the lowest incident rate in their industry group.
