The Orrville Area Safety Council kicked off the FY18 program year with a return to the basics during their lunch and learn meeting on July 12.
Kelli Ott, Ergonomist with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation office in Canton and a member of the Orrville Area Safety Council Steering Committee, presented BWC Basics for Employers to an audience of 65 local safety managers and business owners gathered in the community room at White Ford on State Route 57.
Ott’s overview of the services provided by the Ohio BWC Division of Safety & Hygiene included a review of resources for 1.) prevention – keeping workers safer on the job; 2.) transitional work – helping workers recover and return to work; 3.) reducing costs – opportunities to keep workers’ compensation costs down for your company.
The Orrville Area Safety Council is a partnership between the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. Regular attendance at monthly safety council meetings educates employers on the latest safety, workers’ comp and risk-management information, techniques, products and services. This program provides a potential premium rebate of up to 4 percent for attendance and workplace safety performance.
The Orrville Area Safety Council received an Honorable Mention for Safety Council of the Year from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation in May. A strong line-up of educational programs will be offered the second Wednesday of each month in a “lunch and learn” format.
The August 9 Safety Council topic, “Crisis Management; When the Unthinkable Happens”, will provide essential tools for credibility and control in the face of a crisis. Bruce Hennes, managing partner, Hennes Communications in Cleveland, will present the session. Register here
